Zohar Flax is an Israeli figurative painter working primarily in oils. Her paintings explore familiar places, everyday scenes and the quiet beauty found in ordinary surroundings.

With a P.h.D in biochemistry, Zohar began her artistic practice in 2016, following years spent living and studying in Japan and the United Kingdom. She studied art in London and later continued her artistic development under the guidance of Israeli painter Eli Shamir.

Working mainly from observation and her own photographs, she draws inspiration from the streets of Tel Aviv, the landscapes of the Jezreel Valley, the Mediterranean coast and everyday life in the Western Galilee.

Her work is characterised by a sensitive approach to light, colour and atmosphere, often revealing harmony and unexpected beauty in overlooked places.

Zohar lives and works in Kibbutz Beit HaEmek, Israel. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad and are held in private collections.
